The 6th Annual Gene Potts Memorial Steak Cookoff at the Brazos Expo Center brought the heat this past Saturday with fierce competition, unforgettable flavors, and a whole lot of heart. Sanctioned by the Steak Cookoff Association (SCA), this event celebrated culinary excellence, community connection, and a powerful cause — honoring the enduring legacy of Gene Potts.
With 28 teams in Steak A, 29 in Steak B, and 14 entries in the Anything Fish Ancillary, the day was packed with passionate pitmasters, seasoned champions, and emerging talents. And in one of the most heartwarming highlights, our youngest chef absolutely stole the show in the "Get Kids Cooking" competition — delivering a perfect score performance!

Behind every steak and every sear was the true purpose of the day — to honor Gene Potts, support adult chemo and radiation patients across Texas, and remind us all of the power of coming together for a cause that matters.
